Book Review of

Roger Waters
Creator of Pink Floyds The Wall and Amused To Death

By Stefano Magnani

Upon opening a package I was sent by Stefano Magnani, one of our members in Italy, I was surprised by the book I found inside, a book about Roger Waters! Though this book is written in Italian, the fact that a book about Roger exists at all is fantastic!

The cover features a colorized black and white photo of a young somber faced Roger Waters looking rather serious into the camera. The picture looks as if it was taken during the 1970-72 Floyd era.

This book covers only Roger's solo career and does not include information about Roger when he was leader of Pink Floyd. It is the only book which has yet been published, solely written about Roger and his solo career.

Only one picture, other than the cover,is included in the book, which is of Roger taken some time during the Floyd Wall shows. This inside black and white photo heads the discography chapter, which details all of Roger Waters solo releases, including albums, singles, and even bootlegs.

At the end of the book are photos of other books published by Blues Brothers (the Publishing company), many of which are books about Pink Floyd also written by Stefano Magnani.

My only real complaint with this book is that it should include many many more photo's of Roger, and more recent ones at that, perhaps from his two solo tours.

Though this book is entirely in Italian, it is truly a tribute to Roger's popularity around the world to have a book written about him. Apparently it is selling very well in Italy.

If you speak and read Italian this book is for you. The discography section however, is almost completely understandable to anyone. But even if you don't understand the language, this book is a must for all collectors.

The book is published by Edizioni Blues Brothers, copyright 1994, and sells for 15,000 Italian Lira, including postage, or about $10 US dollars. Send an international money order - in Italian Lira, for all orders, and make them payable to:
