What can you say about the geratest show on earth? Literally, I am almost
speechless. The experience was like a dream come true. I couldn't believe my
eyes, as if hallucinating.
The show started with In The Flesh and what a
mind-blowing intro. You'd feel as if the music and atmosphere exploding in your
blood. The lights, the images, Roger in the spotlight, the band in perfect
unison. Then a helicopter sound over us, and Roger shouting, "You, yes you, Stand
Still Laddie!" pointing his finger at someone in the crowd, and "boom" 'The
Happiest Days...' starts off followed by 'Another Brick...' with an amazing guitar solo.
The setlist, as has been said, is the same as all the previous concerts. I had been
seated somewhere in the back, but we got the chance to sneak out and stand
somewhere right near of the stage. So for 3 hours, we were standing, jumping, and
screaming. 'Shine On...'cannot be described... it left a deep mark in everyone, I
even saw tears in some eyes. The large diamond that rose up the screen was so
beautiful.
'Set The Controls...' was mind-tripping... After the break, they took off
with 'Breath in the Air'... My goodness, I totally lost control of myself...
because the thing would not stop, 'Time,' 'Money'...Roger, The screen, the lights,
the quad sound effects. The crowd was one crazy crowd. We couldn't stop applauding,
:) especially when he sang: "Breshnev took Afghanistan and Beigen took Beirut"
the crowd went mad with applause and claps... Also lots of that in "Perfect
Sense" and "Amused To Death"... In songs like 'Wish You Were Here,''Another Brick...,'
'Shine On...,' 'Comfortable Numb,' etc...you could hear thewholecrowd singing all
together with Roger, word by word. The show justcannot be matched.
The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think... Harry was amazing...
so was Graham Broad on drums, the drums sounded crystal clear... Snowy and Andy
Fairweather were magnificent as usual... Chester Kamen was one hell of a player,
he sang in 'Dogs' and 'Breathe...'But boy could he play. PP Arnold attracted cheers
and applause like crazy when she sang in "Perfect Sense"... Andy Wallace was
quiet there doing great stuff on the keyboards. Norbert was marvelous as well...
What can I say... Roger works with super virtuoso musicians.
Comfortbaly Numb
took us into some other world when Chester and Snowy started soloing up in the
spotlights... they kept soloing for 5 mins I guess... then the encore with
"Flickering Flame" Roger said "this is the final song and it's a new one, it is
about love and freedom". Nice country edge to it, and beautifully says: Then....
I shall be free." You can hear a little part of it in the In The Flesh DVD
documentary. Roger said something to the fans: "We have been touring, we started
in South Africa, then went to south Amercia, Japan, Australia, and lately
Thailand and Dubai, but the audience here, believe me is exceptionally
beautiful". Woww... what would you expect the fans to respond?? :) I cannot just
single out a favorite song from the set, it was just a complete set, like a
concept album.
I even got to see Roger before the show, when they came for the rehearsals, and
he signed my Guitar!!! That's something to keep... He was very kind with us...
the security guy didn't want us to come near, but Rog told him "hey, it's ok...
it's fine" we were all around him. I couldn't believe I was awake, Roger in the
flesh... my heart was thumbing like a mad man.
Watch out people, The greatest show on earth could just get you Amused To
Death... I have never seen anything like it before and don't expect I ever
will... this is even bigger than miracles.
Even to those who don't like Floyd/Waters, you are missing history if you do not
attend this show.

I attended the concert the band played as part of the IN THE FLESH 2002 TOUR IN Beirut, Lebanon. When I firt heard that Roger Waters was coming to Lebanon I couldnt believe it, I mean a legend here in my country!!!, I still cant believe it. So I went directly and bought a ticket for the nearest place to the stage available (I paid 110 dollars!!! but it was worth it and more...).
About the show, It was very organized. About 8:40 the anouncer asked us to turn of the cell phones and 5 minutes later the Legend arrived and he certainly made his presence felt opening with IN The Flesh. As the show rolled the band played classics from The Wall, Darkside Of The Moon, Wish you were here, Amused to Death, and many others (the band played a total of 2:30!!).
I must say that the sound was simply beautiful!!!. Every note played by the band was clearly heard, I have never witnessed such proffesionalism here in Lebanon even though alot of great bands have came here in the past. Besides the wonderful performance of Roger and of course the band, the effects were dazzling with the lightning and scenary creating the mood and atmosphere for each song. A highlight was Shine On U Crazy Diamond and Set the Controls for the Heart of The Sun. The songs generally pleasing to all the fans because they represented all of Rogers extraordinary carreer from early Floyd songs, to Floyd classics, to his solo classics, and finally a new song written by the genious which was a very good end to the show.
In conclusion, this was the best concert I have ever attended so far. I dont know if I can enjoy any live shows again after witnessing the best in action. I cant wait for the new stuff to come out and who knows possibly seeing the legend with those new works live again.
Once again thanx for a great evening and good luck Roger!!

Everything contributed to communicating the depth of the songs to the fascinated audience: The state of the art pyrotechnics, the 3-story-high giant screen but most of all the attitude and the professionalism of Roger Waters.
The songs were all perfect (as we expected), astonishing "Dogs," incredible "Perfect Sense," and the fascinating "Comfortably Numb."
Roger Waters made two gifts to the Lebanese audience at the Beirut concert. First in offering us a wonderful concert, second, in considering us "the best Crowd" of the tour. But he could have easily made us a third great gift, if he had performed "Three Wishes," the song we were eagerly waiting for (read the lyrics to know why).
Thank you Roger Waters, Snowy White, Chester Kamen and all the team.
