And we had not been disappointed yesterday in Erfurt! We are active members of
the fanclub of Manfred Mann's Earth Band and so it was very interesting to us to
see Roger's show - we enjoyed every minute there!
The Messehalle in Erfurt is a
big hall for around 15.000 people and was very well filled. That hall is
well known to us for it's problems with the sound, and also yesterday the sound
was not perfect. Especially Roger's Mic was sometimes difficult to understand (we
stood just in front of him in the third row). But the athmosphere of that gig was
incredible and the people in front of the stage got excited from the very first
minute, in spite of the heat inside of the hall, the show was great!
My husband Thomas and I found the first news of the gig when we saw a 50 min
- piece on the 2001 tour on German TV some weeks ago. Just the next day we bought
our tickets...

Roger and the band did a fantastic and very professional show, about 3 hours long, wow! Highlights to me were Perfect Sense and Comfortably Numb. And Shine, of course. And Wish you were here, and, and... :-) We agree with Arnout from Rotterdam, we, too, guess Flickering Flame is not the best song for an encore. It is really nice, but it destroyed a bit the fantastic mood which was built up during Comfortably Numb before. However, it was an unforgetable evening for us.
A big compliment to Roger and his band - we can imagine how hard it is to play
such a giant tour around the world, every night in another town, all the time on
the road, and you have to be fit just when it's showtime again... You did a
fantastic job, please carry on and all the best for you and the team from
Thuringia!
