Osaka Tuesday Night:
I had a chance to talk to Roger on Tuesday after the show, just for a short
moment though. I gave him a message on a card mentioning a bit about the REG fanclub
and having been a member for many years, along
with a small gift. He remembered me from my encounter with him in New York.
So yesterday (Thursday night in Tokyo), at the end of the first set, he pointed me out and said "thank
you", though I at first did not realize he meant me. And he repeated "yes, you,
you!"... It was a wonderful experience.
I couldn't miss any show given by Roger in my country, So I will see all
the 5 of the shows given here in
Japan. It cost a lot, but compared to going Europe to see him play, I can
afford it.
The second nights show was terrific! We allowed for their first night's poor performance,
attributing their condition to jet lag!!

I was especially moved by Snowy's playing, the highlight being the trading of licks on Comfortably Numb with Chester. Snowy has proven himself to be a superb replacement for Gilmour, Clapton and Beck. Chester chose to follow Gilmour's solos almost note for note, anddid a great job of it.
Roger took the time to stop and sign programs for a small group of us waiting
outside the hall - I can't believe I actually met him! Please come to Osaka
again, Roger.
I thought the reaction of the audience was better than the 1st night, though this can not be said for Roger's performance. I think that Roger's performance of 1st night was better than on the 2nd night. The encore was Flickering Flame. Great show but I preferred the 1st night.
I should write about the other band members' performance as well. Harry made some mistakes on both nights but did a nice job. Chester is a totally different guitar player from Doyle. Though Chester did a great job on vocal and lead guitar, so I wasn't disappointed in him. Linda sang very well. Norbert played Sax on Shine On 1-5, Money, and played Ewi on Southampton Dock, Shine On 6-9 and Flickering Flame.
Those new members are all talented musicians. As always, Andy's solo on Money was great and I loved it! But Osaka audience's reaction was minimal. I don't know why. It was pity! The other members of the band did a great job as well. I loved Graham's drumming more than I did before. He's a really a great drummer.
I heard that Roger signed autographs for some fans, but unfortunately I was not there. I lost
my chance to meet Roger. It was a sad thing. But it was not my last chance to
meet Roger. The next day, I went back to my home in Tokyo.
