And I knew the setlist that Roger played in Rio de Janeiro, 3 days ago with
Each Small Candle as the encore. But I was surprised when he said he would
play "a brand new song called The Flickering Flame" here, in Porto Alegre.
Everyone was quiet while he played the song. Some seconds after, we
applauded. In the end, we applauded, screamed, asked him to come back...
I (and almost 30,000 people) stayed 8 hours sat, 5 standing and 3 (out of
that 5) jumping, screaming and singing with Roger. It was really worth it!!!
Flickering Flame played again!!!
Hello!!!!
I went to Porto Alegre on tuesday (12) to see Roger Waters (I live in a town
450 kilometers far from Porto Alegre). The show was amazing!!! I couldn't
imagine that someday I'd see a show with the hammers walking in the
background screen, or the pyramids of Dark Side. Certainly, it was the event
of my life.

The screenproyections helped to rise the show intensity with all those sounds emerging from everywhere, Harry plays with your mind while he playsthe keyboards, making special atmospherical tricks.
Welcome to the Machine was one of the best, for me at least. Was a kind of message. There were moments where you can feel the presence of Syd Barrett (shine on you crazy diamond, wish you were here).
Best showEVER!!!!!!
Shine on!
I got there like an hour before the show starts (and it started right at 9p.m. as it was planned) and during the intermission I got pretty close to the stage. During the hole show I could feel the sound, it was amazing, not one detail out of order, everything went just perfect.. I think that's the best word to describe it: PERFECT!!!! The sound, the lights, the videos playing on the background, and that voice (oh, what a voice) singing right there in front of me... Ok, I still get a shiver running through of my spine whenI think about it.
And I can also say that he is pretty accesible. As I work at the airport I
got the chance to meet him, and I saw him walking thru the people that there
were there yesterday waiting to say goodbye, giving autographs, taking pictures. And
after, he was waiting for his plane to Sao Paulo just like another regular
passenger, playingbackgammon (I think) with his son. I aproched him to ask for
an autograph and he stoped playing to give it to me. That made me like him even
more, no "song and dance", he did not even used the VIP room that was prepared for
him.

It is not easy for me to convey what I am feeling right now. Me, Giovani Akira, and my three friends, Görski, Hermann and Schenkel left our town, Santa Maria and got a bus to Porto Alegre one day before the show. We were soooo excited, we were daydreamin about the Happiest Days of our Lives.
Every single word spoke by Roger on that night touched us deep inside the heart. It is a little difficult for me to explain it in English, because my mother language is Portuguese, and, to tell you the truth, there is no such language in the world to describe what it was like for me. Pink Floyd will always be a guide for me through my life. And Roger Waters creative mind will never be forgotten. I have three heroes --- Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix and Roger Waters. Two of them I cannot see anymore, and when we heard about a new In The Flesh tour --- WORLD TOUR --- we became crazy about it! We need to see Roger and the Band!
I remember about some conversation that I had with my friend one year ago, we spoke about how lucky were those who spent their youth in the 60's and 70's, how lucky were those who watched and lived through the greatest gigs of the world, it was the best age for the music, the real music. Coltrane, Monk, Cream, CSNY, Doors, Pink (Of course)... It was some kind of thing that we, from this generation, would NEVER HAVE... But then, Roger was coming!!!! Everything was like a dream!
We spent a entire day of waiting outside the stadium on the line feeling an inexplicable anxiety that tortured and at the same time gave us a feeling of happiness! We were direclty in front of the stage. Looking, and watching everything. Get Your Filthy Hands Off My Desert and Southampton Dock songs were brilliant! All the emotion that we could feel through the Final Cut album was there, outstanding. Dogs, Shine On and Welcome to the Machine were superb. Roger's son performed unbelievable sounds on that keyboard!
But it was on Time that I had tears running down on my face. A dream. Really a dream. The Amused to Death songs, was the part of the show that I was so hungry for, and that left all the people on the stadium paralysed. The giant video display was like hypnosis, and the surround sound made us shiver! All the songs were marvelous! Andy, Snowy, and the others were fantastic!
I just wish that everyone in the crowd had shared the same feelings that me and my
friends were sharing, it was the only dissapointment for me, that some people over there didn't not
understand the sentimental weight of that night. I can't say any more than that. As a matter of fact we were
Confortably
Numb most of the time. If one day Roger could read this, Thank You Mister Roger. Thank you very much for the
show. This moment will be forever in our hearts.
