Here, we never imagine about touching so close this marvelous World. Yes we
did, thanks God.
What we saw here in Santiago was the best show in world, a Pink Floyd trade
mark show, the great Gig in the sky... Roger was there singing and playing
in his unique style and as it were the last show ever. Beautiful.
It was said that the President of Chile was in attendance. But no, unfortunately,
our President could not go to the show due to schedule problems. However, important
people went: young polititians (from the left side), our Finance Minister Nicolás Eysaguirre,
among others. Very positive is the fact that Roger has influence upon young generations of
politicians, isn't it?
On the other hand, I think that it is not true that 60 thousand people went
to the National Stadium this day. As far as I am aware, Roger made the
decision not to allow more that 44 thousand.
I saw the concert from the GOLDEN BOX position, and the first thing I
realized was the small towers and short spekers size. I thought that the
sound wasn't going to be loud enough. Ok, then begun the concert and the
first 3 songs: In the flesh, Another Brick, Mother... the whole stadium
singing along them. Thousand of tourches lighting all around the place,
really beautifull but the sound not ready yet.
After those songs, I realized that the sound quality begun to be much and
much better and louder... and suddenly they starting to perform Dogs and the
sound level went up... a lot of guitar solos... and then in the middle of
that song we started to hear the synthesizers in our backs and a lot of
sound effects going around our heads!! Belive me, I never heard such pretty
sound quality in my life.
I was impressed with the Andy's Fairwether Low guitar's
solo by the end of Money. I said: Where this guy come from?? Mars. I think
Andy could have taken a more important role in the show. He is really a
marvelous guitar player.
On the other hand, I was pretty glad to have had the opportunity
to see the unique guitar player MR. SNOWY WHITE. I love his solos and the
way he pulse the chords of his guitar. "A Wet Dream" from Richard Wright is
one of my favorit records ever, and SNOWY took and important role on that
recording.
Another great moment was the SYD image shining in the stage and turning
bigger and bigger. What can I say? A very sensitive moment. Then, I could not belive
that the band started playing Shine On You Crazy
Diamond Parts 6, 7, 8 and the closing section from Rick Wright. Marvelous
keyboards played by Mr. Waters Jr. (he learnt the Pink Floyd "know how"
since he was a kid for sure...)
The other remarkable thing was the pretty female voices in "Perfect Sense..."
These kind of singers are impossible to find out here in Chile. So many things
I can say, but I suggest all the Roger's fans who have a way
to join this tour.. you cannot miss the rest of the TOUR!!!
As a Pink Floyd fan, I really think that Roger (in some way) wanted to show
us not only his talent and genius, but also HE GAVE AND SHOW US the talent
of David, Rick and Nick. Think about Roger's son playing us Rick
Wright's closing section of Shine On you Crazy Diamond... or Kamen and Snowy
White playing their guitars on Dogs as Dave Gilmour did. I felt this show was
a kind of tribute of old good years and good friends. No more fighting! Shine On
Floyd! Long live the angel SYD who protects the real Floyd from Cirrus Minor!
Yes, this In the Flesh Tour is moreover a tribute for the real Pink Floyd.
Oh I forgot to tell you a funny thing...
In my country Chile the 2 main TV broadcasting corporations are:
Ok, last Saturday at 23:00 TVN broadcast an 1 hour Roger Waters special
program showing some songs from IN THE FLESH DVD and many people interviews.
The funny thing was that TVN main competitor here UCTV decided to play at
the same time PULSE from Pink Floyd....
So this Saturday Chilean night turned very very PINK indeed...
I never imagined something like that to happend here!!
Congratulations Michael and thanks for your page www.rogerwaters.org
Dear World,
I am a Pink Floyd fan since 1980 when I discovered the fabulous Floyd world

Well, I'm only 13 years old, and my knowledge is very wide if we talk about Pink Floyd of course. On March 5th, I went to Roger's "In the Flesh" (show at the Estadio Nacional), and WOOOWW, there's nothing compares to that! I mean, it was my first concert, but my best esperience in my whole life.... man!!
It was really really great! The sound was incredible, all the effects were awsome, the phone at the begining of MOTHER, the dogs from the song DOGS, everything was perfect.
Well, I'd like to read another experiences, of there's anyone who'd like to share please,write...
I'm told that the band members read this website for fan reviews of the shows? Please!!! I would be very happy if
someone from the band writes me...please, tell me that... BYE!!!
It was a magical night. I felt so excited! I started to cry during the song "Perfect Sense." When Roger began to play "Perfect Sense," the crowd went wild. Everyone in the stadium was standing up, and the rush and intensity of the emotions could be felt by everyone there.
Well all I can say is that it was the best moment of my life.

Andrés Urzúa in Chile
At exactly 21:05, the lights in the Estadio went off, we all started to say - "finally..." and - "I thought this day would never come," - and other things of that sort. Roger Waters came walking slowly from a tiny "wall" when the music of In The Flesh was playing and he turned around fast and he began playing his black bass. Then fireworks came from the stage, and 57,000 people began yelling ahhh, ohhhh and go on!!!
Estadio Nacional is a open air venue, so when Roger was playing "Mother," "Wish You Where Here" and "Confortably Numb," I turned around and the view was amazing, all the people began to light candles. It was incredible!!
The images on the large screens, and the big one on the stage, together with the sound and music, helped to make this the most incredible show ever to be seen in Chile. Until now, the best shows were by my other favourite group the Rolling Stones, and the U2 show was also very good.
Im not going to tell you the setlist because you already know it, but when the entire crowd was singing "Wish You Where Here," it was unveliable.
I was very, very lucky because after the show Roger signed my "The Wall - Is There Anybody Out There" cd, not the cd itself of course, the box of the Limited Edition.
My only advice is that because I don't think that Pink Floyd or Roger Waters are never going to make a tour again, this is your only chance to see live, one of the greatest band/solo artists of the World. I think they are comparable with The Beatles and The Stones.
The HI-FI Quadraphonic Sound is great. Listening to them play "Money" and "Time," you will turn
and look to see where that sound is coming from!
Regards and thanks for this great website.
Francisco Alvarez.
It is not too unobjective to say that it was the best concert that has been played in Chilean fields, even though it is my point of view as a fan. The show with the music the sound, lights, effects and all that paraphernalia was simply the best ever seen in Chile.
The stadium was swarming with more than 65.000 fanatics. It was a real generational and class meeting, poor people, rich ones, old, young, state ministers, and workers. All having come toghether just to witness one of the best moments in everyone's lives.
Some tears fell from my eyes, specially at the beginning when he played "In the flesh pt.2," and then again during Brain Damage/Eclipse. Those moments, along with "Perfect Sense" and "It's a Miracle," were the peak moments of the show (at least for me).
I would have liked to have heard some older Roger's stuff, as well as Floyd stuff, specially the older stuff (that's why I want to thank Roger for playing one of my all time favourites, "Set the Controls..."). But I think the setlist was quite representative of the whole of Roger's career.
A friend asked me if I missed Gilmour and the rest of the Floyds? I did... but in the
way that they were the original band. But I didn't musically speaking 'cause the
musicians are just excellent and the arrangements Roger did to the songs are
really cool. It was like (sorry Roger) being at a Pink Floyd concert. It was one of the
greatest days of my life.

As my country is far away from everything, I never thought they could come to Chile. So in the year 2000, I travelled to the USA to attend "An evening with Roger Waters" in Miami. That experience was amazing, I had very good seats in row 16 and I felt very lucky. The concert was in an open air venue and I couldn't believe the precission of the sound, it was perfect, beautiful.
Roger impressed me a lot, I sang every song feeling that I was the luckiest person for being there. After two years, here I am, last week I attended the same show here in Santiago de Chile. But this time I got the best tickets ever, first row in the middle. I think me and my friends were the first people buying tickets, we didn't want to miss this big opportunity: ROGER WATERS IN CHILE, for real.
Well, I can tell you that night was magic. It was all about music, all about years of dreaming. That night the National Stadium was really crowded with the most respectful audience ever seen in my country. I think that many people had the same dream, and as it was coming true, the emotions ran free, and in my personal opinion this was "the greatest show on earth", it was perfection. Can you imagine me in the first row with my closest friends being as happy as we could, communicating with Roger, all I can remember is me thinking, "I'm dying, I'm dying", I was feeling so happy, so full of emotion.
Me and my best friend took to the concert a little pink heart each (like a pillow), wich we showed to Roger during all the Concert, and at the end of it we threw them to the stage. I failed the shot, but my friend's pink heart reached the stage. With that statment we wanted to say that Roger Waters' music is always our choice, when we are talking about life, or driving the car, or whenever we are trying to fix the world. Finally, when the concert was over and the musicians went away, Roger came back to the stage and showed us that the pink heart was between his hands. That was a beautiful thing for him to do, that really made us happy. I hope he can keep it to remember that here in Chile, we do love him.
I'm sorry if I can't tell you more about the setlist, or the band, or the amazing sound, or the effects, the lights, etc. I think other reviews can tell that and more, I can only connect with my emotions and with my mental state after the show.
By the way I was very impressed with Andy Fairweather-low, I like the way he sings, he plays the guitar like .. I don't know, just great. And I also think he is very attractive, very handsome. But I'm so sorry Andy, my heart belongs to Roger.
That night I was flying very high and the day after I was like still flying, until I realized Roger had left Santiago and went to Buenos Aires. So I had to bring my feet back to the ground and pray to God that Roger Waters will someday come to Chile again. It is a must.
I have a question for the Master: Roger, do you still believe that football stadiums are not good places for your concerts? I think it is not about the place, it is about the reasons so many people are interested in coming to your concerts, not the numbers. I wonder if you realized that everybody was attending the concert with passion in their heart, that a night of love was on the air, and it was all about you, about your music, about your message, about your genius and talent.
That night really moved my world, and I have changed. I'm digging deeper, I'm flying higher, I'm shinning on. The only message I can give for those who haven't seen Roger Waters yet, is: DON'T EVER MISS THIS CONCERT! IT IS A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE! A ONLY ONCE IN A LIFETIME EVENT!
I hope I haven't bored you all too much. I just wanted to say that Roger Waters is the
best, and I feel very lucky to be alive and to have survived the concert. For a long time
Roger, I had deeply wished you were here, and you were, thanks for coming, I really appreciate
it.

The show started on time (9 pm) with a blasting "In the Flesh?" - with pyro
explosions included- and, as noticed on the DVD/video, a big projection was on
the back making the scenario changes accordingly to the song he was playing.
It's a very convincing technique and works well.
The set list:
1.- In the Flesh?
2.- The Happiest Days of our Lives
3.- Another Brick in the Wall, part 2
4.- Mother
5.- Get your Filthy Hands off my Desert
6.- Southampton Dock
7.- Pigs on the Wing, part 1
8.- Dogs
9.- Shine on your Crazy Diamond (parts 1-8)
10.- Welcome to the Machine
11.- Wish you Were Here
12.- Shine on (parts 6-9)
Break, 20 minutes
13.- Set the controls for the Heart of the Sun
14.- Breathe
15.- Time
16.- Money
17.- The Pros and Cons of Hitch hicking, part 11
(5:06 am Every Stranger's Eyes)
18.- Perfect Sense (parts 1 y 2)
19.- The Bravery of Being out of Range
20.- It's a Miracle
21.- Amused to Death
22.- Brain Damage
23.- Eclipse
24.- Comfortably Numb
Encore:
25.- Each Small Candle
The only two changes to the video were "Sine On.." who was played on it's entire
version to part 1 to 8 and later on the rest of the song after "Wish You Were
Here", only "Have a Cigar" was left out of the entire "Wish you were Here" album.
The second thing was that "Wish you" was played with the solos in place with a
slide guitar.
I was very concerned to see how the band replacement will perform. The great Jon Carin was replaced by Henry Waters, Roger's son who accomplish his mission as a supporting musician, more glowing was the participation of P.P. Arnold (as always, this woman is just incredible) in the choir and Norbert Stachel on the saxophones, very solid player. Chester Kamen was the replacement to the spectacular Doyle Bramhall II. I realize that must be a very hard task to find someone who could play all this great guitar stuff AND sing like Jon Carin (acoustic guitar and voice on "Dogs") 'cause all his work singing and playing the guitar was on Kamen's shoulders now. He sings as good as Carin and as a guitar player I was a little disappointed at the beginning of the show (The Wall, Final Cut) but in song like "Time" and "Money" he playes with inspiration (and just like the record, that's what we all wanted, rigth?) so he was a fair replacement.
Roger was overwhelmed by the people in the audience (thats our way I Latin America), he thanks no less than 15 times and he manifest his wish to return to Chile, he also spoke some words in Spanish too. I remember when he came out to the encore he joked as he was thrown away from the microphone because of the big ovation from the audience. He also mention that "It was a pleasure to us to perform to this crowd".
The light were also very good however this is a show mented to be staged indoors because of the use of a "interactive lights" so the people can see how the room transforms according to the moment of the song. An example: "Sine On" uses a spotlight aimed to a big rotating "table" (like a disco ball with little mirrors) who was intended to illuminate the whole room with moving spots, this effect does not work in a stadium.
This is a "must go" show so if you like at least 1 of the songs you shouldn't miss it, really
One more thing, as mentioned before, President Ricardo Lagos of Chile was told to assist to the event (he is a fan too!) but couldn't make it, however his son was able to go.
Some tips: bring some money so you can get the original T shirt of the tour (very nice) in black or white, there are for your girlfriend too some sexy shirts with pig included, there are also a nice booklet with info and pics, pins of pigs and key holders. Finally, bring some weed!
Have fun, don't miss it!
