Now at our seats (and during the show), the weed was ablaze, and the drunk air
guitarists wasted no time in making fools of themselves. (concerts always seem to
offer such side shows). When Roger took the stage the roar's were endless and
the music, under a very bright full moon, just never seemed to stop. Instead of
re-reviewing the show, I'll just offer my thoughts: Roger's band is seriously
the best of rock's best at thier craft and thier art. Yes indeed, they are
simply that good.
Call me the minority, but I would have liked to hear much more solo material.I
miss the now seemingly forgotten cuts from Radio Kaos, and the title cut from
Pro's and Con's.(perhaps just a better balance). To fully appriciate the music
of Roger Waters, one really must attend his live shows. His words, his music and
his imagination are something that can only be understood to a point by listening
to his records (Okay, CD's). His live shows stretch far past any adjectives
found in any dictonary. It leaves one so speechless. Whatever words any one
chooses to describe his live shows, the
music and expierience is even better. He is a gift of the utmost talent, and we
as fans are better influenced and very lucky, to have the chance to have seen
this man perform for us. Anyone feeling any less, just dosn't get it.
Solo, or with David, Rick and/or Nick, their music, and all thier solo music,
deserves the respect and appriciation for being so damn good. Thank you Roger.
May all the happiness and good blessings bestow upon you and ALL your current and past
bandmates.
Hearing your music, makes for the happiest days of our lives.
Friday night was my second of two nights. Friday night, as in Thursday nights
show, Jim Ladd arrived through the stage left side entrance and greeted the small
number of fans there and spilled stories about KMET, the Radio Kaos tour and
about he and Roger. ( Thursday night he arrived with Billy Bob Thorton ).
Hearing stories about Roger from such a respected inside source, was a great way,
both nights, to get a pre-start to the show. Friday night, Tom Petty's
keyboardist, Benmont Tench too was there and swapped some great T.P. and R&R
stories.

Arcadia, Ca.
I was comparing the concert to the In The Flesh Tour DVD that I frequently watch at home. I missed that tour when in June of 2000 Roger performed at Coors Amphitheater in Chula Vista, Ca. When I found out, late, that Roger was coming to Hollywood, I decided I wasn't going to miss this one.
I was hoping for the same band as in the In the Flesh tour. It ended up the same except for a few changes. The lead guitarist was good, but I really missed Doyle Bramhall on lead guitar, he just has a certain style about him and a better voice. What can you say about Snowy White, just an awesome guitarist. Graham Broad plays the drums like no other. Jon Carin is a genius on the keyboards, guitar, vocals and the lap steel. Andy Fairweather Low brings it all together filling in with the guitar, vocals and bass. They didn't perform the Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking Part 11, Every Strangers Eyes, so I really missed Andy's talent in that song. And last but certainly not least, the backing vocalists. Katie Kissoon, I'm in love with you and I play your vocals on Mother over and over again. And P.P. Arnold your solo in Perfect Sense Parts l and ll gave me chills hearing it live.
Aside from not performing Dogs, the concert was great. I had read alot of reviews of previous concerts and alot of people felt Roger went overboard with his political opinions. I didn't feel like it was too much. Roger, when you decide to tour again please come back to San Diego and I can assure you there will be more fans on their feet giving you and the band the appreciation a Roger Waters concert deserves.
When Roger and band took the stage, playing In The Flesh pt 2. I began to wonder if he was going to repeat himself from his previous tour. He did not. I will not go over the playlist but his choice of songs from his solo work and Pink Floyd library was very tasteful. The projects and special effects were amazing. I did get a chuckle out of the new smaller flying pig, with graffiti during Sheep; especially the Impeach Bush Now, on the rump of the pig. Appropriate place for it, I would say. Then came intermission
Now for what we all, or at least I was waiting for, Dark Side of the Moon. When the break ended. There was a small but growing moon projection on the screen, but instead of heartbeats leading into Speak to Me, Roger came out and introduced his former band-mate of Floyd years, Nick Mason. The amphitheater erupted in cheers and adulation. The multi-media presentation of DSOM was mind-boggling, due to the imagery combined with the continually relevant theme of the songs, and the how well this band performed the music.
At the cross roads of history we are in, the choice of songs from The Wall: Vera and
Bring the Boys Back Home was especially meaningful. Finally topping off the show
with a very invigorated rendition on Comfortably Numb, making the night
complete. Of the 4 tours heÕs done in the USA: Pros and ConÕs, Kaos, In the Flesh,
and even his appearance with Don Henley at the Walden WoodÕs concert, this was
the most visually stunning, and sonically enthralling show, IÕve seen since he
went solo, also rivaling any that IÕve seen during the Pink years. Should Roger
ever read this, Thank you, and again thank you.
It was no doubt the best live performance I've ever seen- and Roger was absolutely amazing! I suppose the only complaint I had was that I felt the crowd didnt do him justice- but maybe that's just me since I was over-enthusiastic :)
I really hope he goes on tour again next year- I'll travel to any corner of the earth to go see him again! :)
Thanks Roger- for making a dream come true!
