The Point

From the Dublin Ireland Show
May 14th 2007

From: Paul Hennigan
I am 28 yrs old and was brought up by my mam and uncle on the likes of Led Zepplin, The Eagles, The Doors etc... my uncle then got me into Pink Floyd, who I instantly loved.

Then having seen "In the Flesh" on DVD, I simply had to go see one of the Roger Waters gigs. I must say that the gig has blown me away. From start to finish it was amazing. Visual effects, sound, performance, and caliber of artists and singers all second to none. A feast of rock playing out classic Floyd tunes as well as the entire "Dark Side Of the Moon.

The only negative is that Waters is not on again tonight as we would pay double to see him again. A magic night for all, and you haven't lived until you see him live. The bar has been set high and I hope to see Roger, Snowy and the gang back again. Even his new material "Leaving Beirut" is blood stirring. This word is thrown around too much to those undeserving, but Roger Waters is a Legend, and his lyrics are precise, deliberate and powerful.

A must see gig.

What an amazing gig. Roger prooved again that he is second to none with his live shows. The lighting, visuals and music were spectacular. This was my third time at a Waters gig and he gets better every time. To all those who missed out, you have never been to a real concert until you witness Roger and his band.

Hi, I thought it was a fantastic concert- Waters is a living legend I had my 11 year old daughter with me and it was an experience she will remember for the rest of her life.

Hi, I have been a huge fan of Roger for a long time now. Listening to his voice in my headphones has gotten me through some very low and traumatic episodes in my life over the years and ÊI never once even imagined that I would be fortunate enough to see him perform live until this christmas, my fiance bought me tickets to see Roger in Dublin. I was dumbfounded, but felt sure that it wouldn't happen, the show would be cancelled,I would die in the meantime, Roger would lose his voice, Dublin would get pickled in guinessÊor the point theatre would surely go on fire on the eve of the concert. Something was going to go wrong! I could never even hope toÊbe fortunate enoughÊto breathe the same air as this incredible man.

Well, I can't begin to explain the weird and unrecognisable emotions that surged through me when, as I stoodÊthere on the edge of the crowd, waiting for my fiance to return from the bar, Onto the staged he walked, and there he was, live, Roger Waters! I was alone, I stared, asking myself if this was actually happening or was I fantasising? I screamed to myself in my head, Anne, that is Roger Waters! the music started, Shine on you crazy Diamond, and I really felt I was about to cry, I am a very practical person and am not prone to bouts of emotion, but this was so incredible an experience my poor brain, heart and entire being weren't atall sure just how to handle it.

My fiance (Frank) returned, gutted he had missedÊRogers entranceÊbut thoroughly enjoyed the entire performance, nudging and bumping me at every opportunity while I tried to get some great photos I might add! but I got some anyway. We discreetly weaved and edged our way closer and closer to the front until we wereÊright there, right at the barrier, it was incredible, he was so close and would walk back and forth infront of us.

The female vocalists were ofcourse outstanding, the instrumentalists too were just absolute class, guitarists, drummer and saxophonist all enviably fantastic but, I was there to see one man and one man only, and I now feel it's all too vague in my memory, the reasons for that I suppose, trying to get too many photos, and more probably the fact that I was just totally shellshocked by the whole thing, great reson to make sure I doÊit again though!

I could sit andÊname some of the tracks he sang and tell you how wonderful each one was but lets face it,Êis there going to be even a slightÊdoubt in any of our mindsÊthat his performance could be anything other than amazing? I think not! So there we are. I feel I must have done some wonderfully unselfish and generous thing at some point in my life and someone above has now looked down upon me and bestowed on me this wonderful opportunity that I never in my life felt worthy of. It really means that much!

Thankyou Frank for loving me this much, and thankyou Roger for being so damn wonderful!
Anne xx
