I really started learning about
Roger and his history about a year ago, when I met my fiance. He is a fan who has followed Roger all
through his career, and respected him for how he does what he does.
As we were waiting for the show to
start, I didn't realize that the next three hours would be the greatest musical experience of my lifetime!!!
From the moment Roger walked out on stage, I was hypnotized by his aura, his presence; I have searched
for serenity like that my whole life.
Even though I did not meet him in the physical sense, I whole-heartedly
believe that I met him in the spiritual sense... it's just something I can't explain... but if you could have felt
what I was feeling, you would know. I am amazed by him... he has now moved up to the number one spot in
my book, and I have a feeling that won't change.
Thanks for letting me give some feedback...
Hello from Fort Dodge, Iawa! Just leaving some feedback for whoever this concerns! Last night my fiance and
I went to Roger's concert in Omaha, NE. I have been in a euphoric state since!
Love and Peace,
It seemed that a couple of the songs was concerning Palestine and its people. I dont think I need to be the one to tell you that its the Syrians, Iranians, and other radical muslim groups that are ruining that country, not America.
And concerning terror, have you caught the news in the last couple of days that there are still terrorists in England trying to blow up that country?
Please take the politics out of your concerts. It would make for a much more enjoyable experience for all of your fans.
We got a great Hotel room just blocks from the Qwest Center. We didn't have to drive all week! everything was right there for us. Omaha was very accommodating with nice restaurants, bars and the Old Market all within walking distance.
The Qwest Center is fairly new and is a very, very nice place to see a show! This was my 6th Waters show since 1999 and they all have been just perfect! lets all hope we can see him again in a few years, maybe when the new solo album is out? But still... Roger... come to Red Rocks in Morrison Colorado!
My wife & I took our 20 year old nephew with us to the show, I think he was excited as we were to be going. We also thought it was pretty cool to be the ones to take him to a show of such Rock history.
We got there early enough to check out the venue (we had driven up from Kansas City). In actuality, we were hoping to actually see the band arrive, but weren't as fortunate as some of the other reviewers have been in other cities. Maybe another time, it was good enough just to be there with fairly decent tickets.
What can I say about the show that hasn't already been covered before, it was beyond awesome. The Big screen behind the stage was crystal clear. The band was tight, they were obviously enjoying themselves and very appreciative of all the audience adulation they were receiving. Ian Ritchie's solos sent shivers up and down my spine, Roger was all over the stage, the gals were in TOP form, Snowy, Dave and Andy were utilizing those axes to their utmost potential. Jon Carin was his usual top shelf self. All in all, it was exactly what I expected based on all the reviews Ive been reading here over the last few months.
This brings up another point Ive been waiting to make until I actually attended a show. All of the past reviewers who have taken exception to Roger espousing his political views are totally hypocritical, absurd, and must have way too much discretionary income. Why on earth did you shell out all that hard (or not?) earned money to see a show that would be so diametrically opposed to your obviously conservative views? Pink Floyds music (with Roger Waters) hasn't really changed that much for the last 30 years! Perhaps you didnt understand the lyrics or attempt to contemplate the symbolism? For those of you that didn't appreciate an Englishman bashing our current administration, remember that there are British troops involved in the War On Terror as well, so I think he's entitled to his views (I'm also sure that since their country was attacked again over the weekend that will even intensify). Here's some suggested reading: The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, be sure to notice the startling similarities to what 1930s Germany was like compared to our current society. For the reviewer who promised that Leaving Beirut would not go over well in Omaha, there was a long standing ovation at the end of the song, almost as big as the end of DSOTM, just so you know.
All in all, it was a wonderful evening that I for one will never forget, and I suggest that those of you that are true Pink Floyd / Roger Waters fans should go well out of your way to see this show if you can, I know I did!!!
I'll be looking forward to a DVD of this tour, like In The Flesh... Shine On & On & On...
Now on to the show. I am 46 years old and have been literally to hundreds of concerts, including the Pink Floyd Division Bell tour. And this show is my #1 choice of concerts. Roger and his band were in pure form. I cried several times during the first half of the show, I was so overcome with emotion. I could tell that Roger was enjoying the crowd, too. He made the statement before the encore that he had just come back from Canada, and thought they had the best crowd, but Omaha, USA had proven him wrong on that. The only other time I have seen a whole arena that into the music was at the Pink Floyd show in 1994, and a Crosby, Stills and Nash concert in the early 80s. Maybe there is only one per decade.
We drove 500 miles one way to see this show. This was actually my vacation for the year. I could not imagine doing something I could enjoy more than I enjoyed this show. I have even looked at his itinerary and am trying to figure out how I can go see him again before this tour ends. AWESOME is all I can say. Words cannot describe how wonderful the show was, and the feelings and emotions it brought out in me. I will never miss another Roger Waters tour.

Because many reviews have already provided excellent descriptions of the show, I won't include that here. But there are two areas I want to comment on. First, the crowd response to the show was extraordinary and wonderful. I have never been to a concert where the cheers and the calls from the crowd nearly overpowered the music. Roger's passion and energy brought the crowd to its feet throughout the show and incited a frenzy I have never experienced at a concert. Roger appeared genuinely touched and moved by the outpouring of emotion and admiration from the crowd. And the audience excitement didn't end when the concert did. As the crowd exited the arena and passed through the walkways, waves of spontaneous and nearly deafening cheering and hollering erupted numerous times - almost as if Roger himself had appeared in the exit-way. Anyone who thought that Roger's show and politics would not be well received by the Omaha audience was misguided and dead wrong.
Which brings me to my other comment. I read every single review on REG before seeing this show. Several reviews mentioned the politics of the show, and some even went so far as to take offense at Roger's political message. I cannot understand why some reviewers were so shocked and offended by Roger's political views, which have not changed since he began writing songs. And it isn't like he took time between numbers to make political speeches about the Bush Administration or anything else, he simply performed his songs, which is presumably why every concert goer bought a ticket. Asking him to "take the politics out of his concerts" is presumptuous and tantamount to asking him not to perform his songs at all.
I am so grateful to have seen this production and to have experienced Roger
Waters in person. I hope he makes the Qwest Center Omaha a stop on every tour.
I spent the balance of the evening trying to find some enjoyment in the performance, (thinking about the $450 I dropped was not consoling me), but it was as if I was sitting and listening while smelling a hot stinking pile of shit.
It was interesting the individuals that I personally observed who responded favorably to the "Impeach Bush" and "What an asshole" messages, were, shall we say, the less dignified in the group - and most certainly intoxicated.
I thought the little cartoon story about getting taken in by a Lebanese couple, was just this side of ridiculous as a projected story regarding modern national security problems. But why would I expect more - Mr. Waters is just a musician.
Please leave the weighty and vital matters of National politics and policies to people who actually understand the issues and who have the courage to place their lives on the line to protect others.
By the way, I dont know anyone who "trusts the government" implicitly. But I
certainly have less trust and respect for drugged out musicians.
