NOTE: This show was originally scheduled for June 4th.
However, at the very last minute... because of the
Ice Hockey Finals being played in Ottawa on that date, the dates of the Ottawa
and Quebec City show (which had originally been scheduled on June 6th), had to be switched.
This may have caused considerable distress
or hardships for some of the fans and their plans for these shows. REG had been informed
by several fans in Ottawa that the show had to be rescheduled because of the Hockey Finals,
but we did not here of any change in venue or date by Roger's management, so we did not change
the dates until it was too late. Our sincere apologies! In the future, just to make sure, please check with the venue
of the show you'll be attending before embarking on any long journey.
From: Paul Marquis
I saw the 2006 version of
the show last summer in France and while it was also an exceptional show then at
Magny-Cours, I had a much better seat this time in Ottawa.
I had read early
reviews of the 2007 tour that Snowy White was a bit behind, but hell not at all.
Snowy was frying his loyal and beat-up Les Paul crazy and his duets with Dave
Kilminster were just sick! Roger's voice was perfect - how the heck can he repeat
tomorrow in Montreal!!??
I had my 11 and 15 y old sons, and they were also at
the 2006 show. Not too young for them cuz I started to listen to Floyd as an 11
y-old in 1971 when my mum was playing Echoes in our house, and she took me as a
15 y-old in June 1975 to see the Floyd at the Autostade of Montral... 32 years ago!
I am just returning the favour
to my sons. I doubt they will be able to do it for theirs! It's absolutely
unbelievable that Roger is that good... he's a LIVING LEGEND!
I just came back from Scotiabank Place where Roger and his wonderful band blew
everyone away... again... night after night... How do they do it, I dont know. I
read the Quebec City review (my home town) from Jean Martel and basically my
experience was identical. It was simply sensational.
I originally had 25th row seats but cancelled those when I saw 14 rows back available. Well, 14th row is just perfect! and I was dead dead center seat 8 middle section on the floor. My 7 or 9 Beers & a couple of special cigarettes before the show was also just perfect. Roger came out and Wow'd everybody. As in other reviews posted, it was the same on this night. Just Amazing!!! I sang just about every lyric and felt as if I was making eye contact with Roger who has given me and so many others such inspiration and that was an awesome feeling. I focussed on the screen during Set the Controls... and felt like smoking some more but knew I should wait a little. The screen & Roger kept on being my focus until Perfect Sense, which was one of the highlights of the show. I didn't know Leaving Beirut when I saw this show in Montreal last year, but I knew it this time around, and that too was one of the highlights.
The local newspaper, the SUN,
had this in their review about Leaving Beirut:
"Alas, the only lapse in the first half, a potpourri of old favourites, was the new political ballad, Leaving
Beirut which proved that Waters is capable of writing as forgettable a song as anyone."
What an Idiot!!!
I found myself below the PIG at one point, and the confetti just kept on falling and falling, and I sang some parts of Sheep while pointing at the Pig as if it was a Sheep. That was really cool!!!
Break time and just getting into the smoking area was a chore, so many were smoking n smoking, and so it was easy to loose track of time. And then we could hear the heartbeats from the beginning of the 2nd half of the show. This was almost the same type of situation as when I saw this show last year in Montreal. So we missed some of Speak to me/Breathe, but got to our seats for On the Run, for which I focused on the screen again. Most Amazing!!!
The rest of show was just perfect. The performers were excellent, I thoroughly enjoyed Great Gig In the Sky, which I had never exprieced like that before. Same as other reviews Roger was smiling, going from one side of the stage to the other pointing into the crowd... after this long of a Tour where does he get the Energy!
During Another Brick part II, I could swear it was Gilmour playing some parts ofthe solo( first part).
Roger didn't seem to stick around on stage after Comfortably Numb as long as he did a when I saw this show in Montreal last year, but last year was his first leg of the tour, the Bell Center was a sold out. I would have liked the crowd in Ottawa to be louder, but perhaps sitting in the middle of the whole show I couldn't gauge the loudness.
My friend said "this is the best show I've seen and probably might be the best show I'll ever see". He might be right. This rivals my favorite shows ever which were Floyd's "Momentary Lapse of Reason" in 1987 & the Roger Waters "Radio KAOS" tour also in 1987, both in Ottawa.
Well it took Roger 20 years to come back to Ottawa and WE ALL LOVED IT!!! and hope he comes back again and again and again.
THANK YOU! ROGER! BRAVO!!! And thanks for a great site REG.
Much has been said about the outstanding quality of the show, the tightness of
the band and of course about the performance of Roger waters himself. Everything
was flawless. From our seats in the 10th row-floor, it was pure magic. But for
Sean, and the rest of us, it was the aura of Mr. Waters himself and his
generosity that will always remain in our collective memories.
