After being a Pink Floyd Fan my entire life (35 yrs), I finally got an opportunity to see Roger Waters perform live (had tickets to see the Momentary Lapse of Reason back in the 80s) but could not make it. After seeing last nights show, I am glad that I actually saw The Brains behind the band that I so adored. Before the show, I was skeptical as I knew Gilmour had sang most of the lyrics for Dark Side. I was also unsure if any other Floyd songs would be played.

The hammers came out and Roger belted out In The Flesh from The Wall, my favorite album of all time. Then Mother, and a retrospect from the career of Pink Floyd. He even played a new biographical track Leaving Beirut, signifying the indifferences between the West and the Middle East. I thought the song and comic like visuals that accompanied were excellent leaving you thinking. The first set was completed with the flying pig and a number of amazing pyrotechnics that I could feel the heat from in my seat. A short 15 minute interval was scheduled and Mr Waters informed the crowd of a 15 minute intermission before Dark Side. Showing that he was in touch with all the pot smoking BC audience (GET SOME MUNCHIES PEOPLE!).

Within the first verse, I felt I was actually in a big stadium, listening to the album Dark Side. Note for note, the execution of the album was flawless. The singers and musicians Mr Waters selected were bang on, not missing a beat or note. My favorite moment of the show (realistically, the whole show was my favorite) Great Gig In The Sky. The female vocalist that belted out the rhythms still has my hairs standing on end. Finishing off the set with the massive laser prism and spectrum hanging over the crowd.

Coming out for the encore with 3 great songs from The Wall; Another Brick Pt 2, Vera Lynn & Comfortably Numb was the icing. Mr Waters took a person that was somewhat unsure, and convinced me that I was at The Pink Floyd concert. Thank you for a stellar performance Mr Waters! I wish you could have played all night long.

To sum it up, this is what the sub-caption stated in our local paper: Roger Waters takes on Dark Side of the Moon and wins! They were right.

Again, thank you for an amazing show! I am now complete.

This was the 7th time I have seen Roger Solo, and the first since 2000, and I have to admit, of all his tours, this was the greatest showing of intensity, passion, electricity and excitement ever. British Columbia had not seen Roger in 20 years and as with most great music, people are starved for classics and quality. They were not disappointed. The sell-out crowd at GM Place was the loudest I have ever witnessed, and their enthusiasm was only exceeded by the consumption of beverages (Beer) and world famous BC Bud. The one problem with serving Beer at a venue such as this is that there was a steady stream of patrons filing either up to refurbish or empty their bladders, and sometimes awkward moments.

I won't get into detail about the incredible set list or stage set-up only to repeat what others have said, that it was the most visual, technological masterpiece ever witnessed in a concert setting. The graphics were inspirational and mesmerizing and the comments around me from first time Roger attendees were that of utter amazement. They don't make em like Roger any more, and only he can bring humanity and rock and roll into such a contemporary timeless genre.

I have read with disappointment from those who have been critical of the political spectrum of the show, and for the life of me I can't understand why. It doesn't matter whether you are for or against this or that, what matters is that there needs to be dialog and understanding for both points of view. If you know Roger Waters, what else would you expect? The fact that the world is so off kilter now and so very in need of heart, I found it truly inspiring that he has the courage to speak up against this insanity. In Canada, these messages were not greeted by any jeers but by a resounding thunder of ovation and adulation. Thank God, there are a few purveyors of truth not afraid to speak their mind. Any fan who "gets" what Roger is about should appreciate it, the others who are so put off can all go fuck themselves for all I care. I lived in the States for 40 years, and I know all sides of the issues, so you all have a right to your opinion and so does Roger Waters.

A few songs layered in other reviews were so compelling and so electric, mere words cannot do them justice. I had not heard "Sheep" live in 30 years, and the stage pyrotechnics, flying pig and visuals brought the crowd to a breaking point of excitement. People were actually shaking their heads in disbelief for a few minutes during the start of the intermission trying to comprehend what they just witnessed. The Fletcher Memorial Home was one, for me, that moved me beyond the mere power of the show, but to a place of reflection and nostalgia. For us veterans of Pink Floyd and Roger the whole show was astounding and I cannot imagine what the first half felt like for a first time attendee. Dark Side was incredible, and though it is probably what sold many of the tickets, it was just another outstanding piece of the pie we all devoured. My head is still buzzing from the electricity and karma, and if can think of any more comments, I'll post them

I just came back to the states, still floating from the awesome show Roger and crew put on. Since this was my 3rd time, I can nit pick a little. They seemed off, and the sound was a little muddy at times. All in all though it was it was fantastic. I loved the pig and confetti.

Thank you Roger, and hope you can take a break and come back refreshed... and dont skip Seattle next time!

Dear Reg,
I just saw Roger Waters live in concert this past week, here in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I got the tickets to the show for free. I can't believe my luck, the seats were right by the stage...

Funnily enough, my first memory of Pink Floyd was the album that my mother owned, that she would play often in my home as a child.

This past week, at the concert, I was blown away. The sheer magnitude of this amazing, spectacular show, the likes of which I have never seen before. I'm quite sure no other live show will ever top this in my lifetime, but for another reason, one that you might not expect.

Not being a Roger Waters fan prior to the show, I had literally no understanding of the tie in with "Dark Side of The Moon" or Wish You Were Here with Mr. Syd Barrett, and his lifelong battle with schizophrenia. You see, I work for the BC Schizophrenia Society. I was drawn to this job two months ago, because my mother had recently passed away. She had her own lifelong battles with serious mental illness, and died in her apartment in Toronto from a drug overdose of cocaine/herion.

The best damn concert of my lifetime. I can't even believe I went to a Pink Floyd concert. They did all their classic tunes and the dark side of the moon album from start to finish. Crazy light shows and all!! I really wish I could somehow meet him, or get onto a blog site so I can write to him and show him how much I truly love Pink Floyd (hence my e-mail address lol).

I was only born in 1980 but as soon as I got introduced to the world of Pink Floyd around 1992, I was hooked. I love everything about them and wish I could see many more concerts. Do you know of a blog site... or anywhere I can send a fan letter to that he would actually have a chance at receiving it???
