The Sound Advice Amphitheater

From the West Palm Beach Florida Show
May 18th 2007

What a fantastic show... lots of Floyd... lots of sound... and lots of great visuals. I particularly liked the "Wish You Were Here" set... 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond,' 'Have A Cigar,' and 'Wish You Were Here.'

The big pig is back... speaking of which... I would have liked to have heard more from "Animals." Dark Side of the Moon was superb in its entirety....every bit as good as the original recording, and Roger knocked us dead with Another Brick in the Wall Part 2. So I'm glad I went... even if I did get caught in the rain! ;o)
PEACE!

As usual, the sound and band were excellent. I don't think the crowd truly appreciated his creativity, especially on his solo songs. There was lots of talking and just a general lack of attention. This, however did not detract from the overall quality of the show. I would give the show an A for quality and organization.

I saw the West Palm Beach show last night, the 1st show of the American leg of the tour. It was an incredible show and setlist! The setlist was the same as it has been on this tour, but I love the old and new stuff. 'Perfect Sense,' 'Shine On,' 'Have a Cigar,' and 'Sheep' were highlights.

The lights, effects, and sound were better than his 2000 tour, and I loved the back projection depicting everything from what seemed to be Roger's boyhood bedroom... to Syd... and on to what seemed to be stars exploding.

Overall, it was the best concert experience I've ever had (except for the butthole cops seated behind me in row 3 center).

I recently visited West Palm Beach to see Roger Waters in concert at the Sound Advice Amphitheater. This was my first stay in the city and my first trip to the Amphitheater. Things did not go well.

I stayed in a hotel 5 MILES from the theater. 5 MILES! At 10 miles an hour and 5 miles from the theater, it would have taken me 30 minutes to get to the show, with 15 minutes to find my seats. I figured there would be some traffic problems, so anticipating that I would be going 10 miles per hour was just being cautious.

That didn't happen. I left my hotel at 7:15pm and didn't arrive at the Amphitheater until 9:15pm. The show started at 8pm. That means I was only able to drive approximately 2.5 miles an hour, which is about 220 feet per minute! Humans walk at about the same speed or faster.

My guest and I arrived at our seats in the Amphitheater just in time for the intermission. I paid $300 to see half the show.

If this is normal traffic flow for concerts at the Amphitheater, why weren't there any warnings from the theater, either on the tickets, on their website, at local hotels? I didn't see any attempts to move traffic any faster than the 2.5 miles per hour I traveled from my hotel to the theater.

HOW DOES SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN? WHERE WERE THE TRAFFIC MANAGERS? OBVIOUSLY NOT WITHIN A 5 MILE RADIUS OF THE AMPHITHEATER.

Where can I go with a complaint about this? Or will people simply say I should have left 2 hours early at a minimum in order to get to my seats on time? We're talking 5 miles here. There were thousands of people late to the show because of the traffic problem and no where did I see any city personnel trying to move traffic at a faster pace. Sure, there were police along the route, but they weren't doing anything. None of the traffic lights were turned off with police managing traffic at intersections to speed things up.

HI there! I just saw Roger Waters in west palm beach on May 18th at sound advice amphitheatre, which was an outside venue. WHAT AN INCREDIBLE SHOW! I am a frequent concert goer, but I must say that this was the BEST concert I have ever been to! I have seen him before a few years ago, but May 18th took the cake! Being outside made all the difference in the world, I think.

During the show, we were outside actually looking at the dark side of the moon up in the sky. How awesome is that, not to mention that there were airplanes overhead during the show flashing their lights - since we were in the direct flight line of the airport.

During the encore performance, it started to rain a bit, which helped cool off the warm Florida night we were having. Everyone was having the time of their life and I don't think there was a person in the place not singing every word of every song he played, which sounded completely awesome. His back-up singers blew us away also! Unbelievable!
