Although, we are English living in Little Adelaide, Adelaide people are quite reserved and don't seem to get
too excited about any concert we go to. If you stand up you get funny looks, sad really, But it did not affect
my wife and I to rock with Roger, what a fantastic night. The program booklet, although pricey at
$40,was great reading. Unfortunately we missed out on T shirts, but a night non the less to remember for
ever.
Thanks Roger and the band for a memorable concert. Uou are a genius, come back please.
We Finally got to see Roger and his band in Adelaide Australia on the 7th of Feb 07. Roger has been my hero
since early 60's and I have followed his music ever since. I love his work, his political view and his brilliant
vocabulary used in his songs expressing his views to the world.
How did you like Adelaide? You are welcome in my house anytime. I guess it all started for me with Dark Side of the Moon when I bought the vinyl... thats what it was back then... and along came cassettes. Most of your stuff now is listened through either CD, DVD or mp3.
I was the one in the back row here yelling that loud I was hoarse the next day. The encore was also appreciated. I didn't have to buy a T shirt at the venue as I already had one, the Relics with "A Collection of Dance Songs" on the back and on the front is a couple on strings dancing in a field with a barn in the background.
You are truly a legend - and once
again thanks...
The whole show was well worth the money and lived up to all expectations. And to be able to hear the Dark Side of the Moon live was just a bonus. Then you came back for an encore... unbelievable! What impressed me the most was that you treated your band and backup singers with respect and it showed, you all played so tight.
It just wasn't Roger Waters playing with a support band - I've been to other concerts, and the emphasise was on the main artist and not the other musos - who are the back bone of any performance.
The production was faultless, each song had its beginning, mid, and end. A true theatrical performance.
I went with a group of friends and not one person had a bad thing to say. It was the best concert I've been to for a long time. Although, we had a problem with the political messages, but we live in such a political world anyway, we can live with that.
If you had a second show here I would be there again, and if I had the money would
fly interstate to see it again. I hope you return to Australia again for another one of your shows.
I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. I particularly liked the graphix which went perfectly with the music. The start of Set the Controls completely blew my mind, and On The Run was just unreal.
Dark Side Of The Moon was great but he didn't stray to far from the album version. Personally, Dark Side is a bit too Dad Rock for me. I prefer Roger's angrier work like Animals and The Wall.
Sheep was an awesome surprise and a perfect end to the first half of the set. Have a Cigar was another surprise where Roger definitely lets us know "which ones Pink".
I would have liked to have seen more of his solo stuff included. He did Perfect Sense, which I reckon is his best solo work, but it would have been cool if he did Every Strangers Eyes too. Some members of the crowd obviously weren't familiar with the Final Cut, as I noticed some of the more senior fans going to the toilet during Southampton Dock.
Seeing Roger live was a dream come true for me. I've never seen Dave Gilmour's incarnation of Floyd, but I've heard the albums a couple of times, and seriously, that dude sends me to sleep.
Seeing Pink Floyd reunite for a world tour would be another dream come true, but I suppose Hell would have to freeze over. Well, they say it froze over last year - We'll see.
Thanks Roger for an awe-inspiring gig that I'm never gonna forget for as long as
I live.
I thought that after they had split as a full band, the impact may have gone... But was I wrong!!!!! What a truly gifted and motivated man! I must confess I had tears listening to the music... the impact... Truly spirited... No marshmallows - he speaks up... and has a lot to say! I'd like to meet and talk with him... Yes but so would many others...
From a man that used Pink Floyd as an inspiration and a refuge in lyrics that contained the obscurity of life... and he did it again! My Best regards to him!
Ps - I would love to gain access to footage of the concert... Any details where and if
it becomes available would be greatly appreciated.
But upon leaving,I heard someone outside say, "As far as I'm concerned Ijust saw a Pink Floyd concert."And on reflection, I would have to agree. Throughout the concert I was continually asking myself, when are you going to play some RogerWalters? And apart from one song, it never came.
A little disapointed... you might have sold your own music short, but never
the less, I still enjoyed the old stuff.
Pity I did not get to meet Roger and personally present him with our wine as I
would have liked him to consider drinking with each vintage of our wine a
beautiful experience and very much the same way that I enjoyed his music.
