From the Guadalajara Mexico Show
March 4th 2007

From: Rene Esquivel
The night of March 4th at the 3 De Marzo stadium in Zapopan Jal, Mexico was an amazing night. GRACIAS were the words Roger Waters said after the wonderful opening of IN THE FLESH.

The whole band performed excellently. The lights and the audience were also wonderful. Roger Waters looked great, and was smiling throughout the show.

The set list was fantastico, with songs such as; In The Flesh, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, The Fletcher Memorial Home, Have A Cigar, and Sheep (one of the best, for me). I actually could not describe what song was the best. I'd rather say they were all the best. The second part with the whole Dark Side of the Moon was also great. But, my wife and my son said that they felt it was too short, and that it would have been better if he would have included AMUSED TO DEATH. Even though he did play PERFECT SENSE, which was perfect, they felt all of Amused To Death would have been something not to be missed.

Anyway, it was a beautiful night. And thanks Roger Waters for coming to Zapopan! My feelings are summed up by what was written on a banner held up by a girl at the show, it said: "My Dream Has Come True, You Are Here". .

On March 4th, in Guadalajara City, I saw a pink pig floating in the sky, reminding us that fear builds walls... and history was to be made!!!

Just returning from a magnificent event, and from what I've heard by many of the attendee's, it was the best show this town has ever seen in it's entire history... a completely sold out stadium surrendered itself to the magic and experience only a genius could deliver: Roger Waters was in the house, and proved that HE is the man.

In my opinion, the whole concept of the show is much better than the In the Flesh Tour: the pyrotechnics, the high resolution screen and the special effects, united with the surround sound are completely mind blowing. You really get into a trip, thanks to a great performance by the musicians and background singers who were at the top of their form.

The set list was very adequate, and yes, mostly comprised of material from Pink Floyd with only two or three songs from his solo works, including the premiere of a new song, that is good, but to be honest, no real material to become a classic.

A special detail that really was a surprise to me, and a lesson in Rock 'n' Roll Roots for some of the others present, was to be hearing Chuck Berry as background music while the show started. God Rocks reckoning one another... it was unprecedented.

It's hard to describe with words the feel and look that all the audience shared. At the end of the show, a girl that was seated close to me turned to one of her friends and said: "please, give me a cigarette... I feel like I've just finished making love with Roger Waters... this is awesome."

Simply said, this was truly "the greatest show on earth" ...at least at this time. if you have the opportunity... don't miss it.

The concert in Guadalajara on March 4 was really outstanding! As I entered the stadium, I thought; "25,000 people of all ages and from all over Mexico can't be wrong." I was right, the show, music, lights, effects and the dedication of Roger and his band were one of a kind.

I specially enjoyed the energy and passion an artist, at age 62, can bring to all of us! Well done Roger. You are an example to follow. Songs like WYWH, Perfect Sense, Sheep (one of the best) and The Dark Side of the Moon in its entirity were the highlights. When the song Us and Them was played (a great one even if it's not my favorite) you could really smell the emotion all over the stadium, yes, you could smell the emotion.

I received the best critic of the night by my wife who said "I like Roger, he is good." She usually only listens to radio pop music, and was in doubt about going to the show.

All in all, it was a great night, beautifull moon, good music, an excellent crowd who can still taste an artist like Roger Waters, one of the few icons of Rock history still standing.

As I drove back to Sonora, I dropped a few tears because I knew I left behind the finest night of my life.
