The first set comprised numbers from both Floyd and his own with a new number thrown in... a song about
a poverty struck family who looked after him at 17 while traveling in Beirut, offering him kindness,
food and shelter and Rogers expressions of gratitude toward them. The highlight of this set, while
not one of my favorite Floyd songs was Have a Cigar, solid rhythm with extraordinarily metallic vocals
which made the song so much better than the original.
The second set was Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety and replicated so closely to the original
album. Without doubt the vocals on Gig in the Sky was the highlight bringing a standing ovation and a
sense of awe to all there.
The band finished with the end of the Moon coming back for an encore including Vera, Another Brick In
the Wall part 2, and Comfortably Numb.
The political messages were there as well with 'Free David Hicks' written across the pig. David Hicks
is an Australian held for the past five years without charge by the USA in Guantanamo prison.
Australians are now uniting in their call to charge him or free him and a sentiment shared by me.
Of the two Melbourne shows I felt the band performed better on the second night, just seemed tighter
and more musical but Kilminster did err in the introduction to Wish You Were Here but the rest of the
night he rocked. Dave needs to learn he's not 20 too!! but he certainly belted out some notes on his
strats.
Of all the Floyd, Waters concerts I've seen, these shows were up there as one of the best, just not
quite beating Floyds Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour in 1988 for theatrics you gotta love those
lasers...
Hey Michael,
Eins, Zwei, Drei, Vier... and with that Roger started the two sell out shows in Melbourne
Australia.

I want to see it again and again, fantastic night.
Thank you Roger and band
I felt like you were watching a short film every time a new song began -Êyou were bombarded with visual imagery and a musical tapestry that truly touched the soul.ÊMany times I had tears in my eyes from the sheer power and beauty of his words and passion for his music. It is hard to believe thatÊRoger is in his 60"s - his music transcends age, gender, religion and race.
He sings so eloquently about fear and the human condition, yet he is the most fearless man that I have ever seen. His anti-war messages were inspirational and provocative. I particularly loved the visual imagery for "Fletcher's Memorial Home". I loved "The Dark Side of the Moon" - who wouldn't it was flawless - butÊI do have to say that the first half of the concert totally captured my imagination - I loved his truth, honesty and brutality. I am a massive U2 fan and I saw the concert in November which I completely adored- but I have never seen anything like a Roger Waters show!!
I have certainly become a big fanÊand will continue to follow his solo work.
He performed pretty much every song I love except Pigs. Played the whole of Darkside which was absolutely stunning. It made me realise that all the Floyd songs I have loved all these years were his creation. There were many many folks in their teens and twenties present. Many of them standing, dancing or clapping... I must admit that surprised me (I'm 53).
It was the best concert I have ever seen. His rendition of In the Flesh brought a tear to my eye. It seemed
especially relevant in these uncertain times of suspicion and racial hatred...
