From the Perth Australia Show
February 9th 2007

From: Louise Hunter
Hi there,
I went to see Roger last night at Perth Members Equity Stadium and it was a fantastic experience despite the police taking my car from me on the way owing to outstanding repo payment! My 9 year old came too and it was amazing to see so many different age groups at the concert and the rapport between diverse people was uplifting.

The music was performed in such a professional way and was true to the recordings and the spirit of Floyd. Roger's personality shined through and brought the crowd together.

The highlight of the evening was when the giant pink pig broke free and soared up into the night sky over Perth, still with the spotlight on it acting like a searchlight. On the national news this evening, the pig was reported to have been found in someone's back yard in a suburb some kilometers away, lounging in their pool. I wonder whether it has been returned to Roger? The slogans on the pig were also shown, so I guess he would have been delighted at the publicity and that his views have been heard throughout Australia.

I don't know if this will get to him, but I thought he would be amused. Also, I would like to thank him for all the pleasure his music has given me for so long.

Better than sex... a totally awesome experience - visual, audio, gut wrenching brilliance, a must see for those doubters. Better than Pink Floyd at East Fremantle 12 years ago!

Please come again and again...

Being a fan of Pink Floyd since "Atom Heart Mother,"I have only now attended my first Rodger Waters concertat Perth Western Australia on the9th February 2007. I was so impressed by whatI heard and saw that I feel I owe Roger and the band a huge debt of gratitude for their brilliant performance.

I have been able to see Mr. Waters as not only a superb musician songwriter, but also as a very sincere and humble man who is very passionate and concerned about the world and his fellow man.

His ability to use the visual effects to enhance the meaning of the lyrics and music impressed me immensely. I was particularly taken by the characters that he usedto portray events such as war and terrorism, e.g. Bush, Stalin, Blairand Nixon for lies and deceit.

When Edward White was shown doing hisextra vehicular activity, I saw it as a memorial for a fallen astronaughtand a way in which technology could be applied for the betterment of all mankind.

As he related his experience in Beirut as a young man, he portrayed his compassion for his fellow man in a very moving and humble way.I am sure that the whole stadium was movedby the performance, not only of his narration, but alsothe lyrics of his dedication in the song.

I would like to thank Mr. Waters and the band forgiving myself and my wife(as well as the thousands of other people who attended) the opportunity to see them in concert after so many years of listening to their albums.

P.S. Ioved the use of HAL9000saying to Dave Bowman"My mind is going - I can feel it"

Your's sincerely,
Steven Hayes

Hello Waters lovers of the globe. Myself and my wife just witnessed a fantastic show, (MES stadium Perth west Oz).

Pre-show: There was a large video screen behind the group, and on it was an old fashioned radio, a bottle of scotch and a glass. There were some old songs playing through the P.A system. After about ten minutes you see a hand lift the scotch and have a wee dram. Then he reaches forward to spin the radio dial, changes the station, the P.A . changes with it, then some cigarette smoke wafts up from the screen. After a few various songs, we hear the crowd at the front cheer and on they come, to much applause, the video screens light up each side of main stage. Then we're off... eins, zwei, drei, vier... Fantastic stuff, especially with the surround sound in the stadium.

The band were brilliant! hardly a note wrong. Before you know it, they're having a 20 min. break, and come back with Dark Side... the whole album... pure class!

The only hiccup was in the last encore set, when Snowy's guitar stuffed up during comfortably numb! (the strat vs. Gibson solo's) But Dave Kilminster picked up the reigns and showed what he's made of! I'll write a set list for you, so you can see what your in for!

Set List:
In the Flesh, Mother, Set the Controls..., Shine On...(Shortened version, without the intro), Have a Cigar, Wish You Were Here, Southampton Dock, Fletcher Memorial Home, Perfect Sense Pt.s 1 & 2, Leaving Beirut, Sheep

After Break: Dark Side of the Moon

Encore: Happiest Days of Our Lives, Another Brick In the Wall, Vera/Bring the Boys Back Home, Comfortably Numb.

If he's heading your way, don't miss it, you wont be disappointed! And watch out for flying pigs.

Keep the faith...

In 1973, at the age of 7 - My Dad (the squarest music buyer in history) brought home a copy of Dark Side of the Moon. What could one say - Breathe, Time, Us and Them - Just amazing!

In 1980 "Another Brick in the Wall" was the anthem of youth and high school

1983 and it was "The Final Cut". Sitting in my room for hours listening to it over and over again. The Gunners Dream, The Fletcher Memorial Home and of course, I thought I was the kid with the imagination in The Final Cut.

1984 saw me sitting in a record store listening to Pros and Cons. I would have bought it for the cover alone! But The Moment of Clarity sealed the deal.

1992 was the year I got married and of course came Amused to Death. Listening to Wachin TV and remembering Tienamin Square, plus of course the Oil Rig in a three man defense - Just unreal

Looking back, I can see that Roger Waters contains a large part of the soundtrack of my life

Now to the concert - Just awesome! I would have liked morefrom the solo albums - but what would you drop to include them :)

34 years of chasing the sun and seeing it come up behind me again and I managed to catch the concert - Fantastic!

Hi
I went to the show and had a ball, I agree with all the previous reviews regarding the musical aspects and was blown away by a both visual and musically spectacular show.

Here's a few of the more left of centre notes for future posterity.

1. The surround sound was used to great effect during the break by playing running water at a decent volume, the effect being a rush to the facilities by a crowd re-hydrating from a hot day. The lines to the toilets were the longest I had seen at any venue!!! (hilarious wonder if it was deliberate)

2. Half time break off took the Pig, and was tracked by the Perth police as it entered air space was later found in a backyard pool looking deflated and sorry for itself. Made headlines in the newspapers and the nightly news report on TV the following day. (I was watching TV)

3. Merchandising tents ran out of XL t-shirts very early. (don't they know we are over 40???)

4. Visual effects from directly behind the band where amazing and linked the songs perfectly, But did anyone else have a strange desire for a scotch after the show???

5. Roger thanked Perth during the show and said it was a great way to end the Tour, I think we were the only Australian out door venue and a perfect Friday night of 25 degrees made for a relaxed atmosphere.

I had a great night and would love to see a Floyd re-union but are not fussed as I am a Roger man and he delivered. Please come again.

Cheers and regards

I have been to a lot of concerts, and I rate the Waters concert "equal" to the best concert I had previously attended.

By the intermission break I had goose bumps, the hair was standing up on the back of my neck. Sheep was spine tingling, the single greatest piece of guitar music ever composed.

Who needs drugs when you have Roger Waters in your ears and in your head!

The only other concert that gave me the same chills was messrs Gilmour, Mason and Wright ( with Jon Carin! ) Pink Floyd... back in 88.

Can't imagine not growing up and growing old in a world without the music of Roger Waters?
