I had caught Rogers' Shows in
1987 & 2000. In '87 it was at the McNichols arena.(The Radio K.A.O.S. Show). I was
at a loss for words after seeing that performance. I still remember seeing Jim Ladd in
his glass box doing his bit as a radio announcer. In 2000 at I saw him at Fiddlers Green. I
was 20 rows from the stage. "In the Flesh" was outstanding.
BUT, lastnight at
the Pepsi Center in Denver, Roger out did himself to a degree in which I know
EVERY fan will never forget. I took my brother with me, He had NEVER seen
Rogerbefore. We got to ourseatsin section 118. We sat andlooked at the stage
admiring how well done the 3Dimages looked. I had told my brother (Tim) he was
in for probably one of the best shows he'll ever see in his lifetime. We talked
to several new comers to see Roger. I told them that after theshow they would
swear that they had justseen "THE" PINK FLOYD. Not someone pretending to be Pink
Floyd. I must say ROGER "IS" the drivingforce behind Pink Floyd. Roger will
ALWAYS be Pink Floyd.
He did not let anyone down the whole show knocking out hit
after hit after hit. The fans at the show for the most part, were in AWE every
single minute. Words cannot describe what was let loose on Denver last night. I
hope Roger has it in him to come back and do at least ONE more show before he
decides to call it quits.
EXCELLENT SHOW ROGER. Please come back again SOON.
Just wanted to say I caught the show last night in Denver. WOW!!! It was by far
THE BEST show with Roger that I have ever seen.
This was my 5th time seeing the show since 2006, and I have to say the Denver crowd was as good, or better, than any of the other places I had gone. I wondered how people would react to the politics in the show, and I guess since Bush has now set a record for the worst approval ratings of any President ever, I actually heard loud cheers and applause for the Leaving Beirut lyrics. I did not hear any boos nor did I see anyone walk out or give Roger the finger.
Just think how things have changed in this country;a few years ago you had to really be afraid to oppose the war and say bad things about Bush - people with Kerry stickers on their cars had their tires slashed here in Albuquerque in 2004. My Kerry signs were stolen from my front yard and ripped up! Now, it seems people have come around to Roger's way of thinking on things to some degree, which is enormous progress even though the war continues on without end, and Grandpa McInsane wants us to stay there for another 100 years.
This time I was in the "Club Section" directly opposite the stage. And I have to say, they were ideal seats - although I was very happy when I was in the 20th row in Atlanta last year. I still remember feeling the heat from the fire-cannons during Bring the Boys Back Home! But, these seats were great because I had a full view of everything, and those giant speakers that hang from the ceiling really dialed in the sound perfectly - loud and perfectly crisp! I have been to other shows there and I have never heard any other bands sound so great.
So I guess I will tell you the set list was unchanged. But there were some differences in that Andy was replaced by another awesome guitarist Chester Kamen... who had a very different take on that swanky guitar in Leaving Beirut. His was more bluesy and I believe this caused Roger to rework the song a little especially toward the ending... making it more dramatic and operatic. I hope I can get a copy of that version some day!Of course Katie Kissoon was replaced by Sylvia Mason-James who was outstanding as well. The rest of the band was the same, and tight as ever with Snowy and Dave hitting every perfect note on guitars, Graham and Jon doing perfect work on Drums and Keys, and Ian Ritchie's incredible sax blowing everyone away. Harry was there too sounding as awesome as ever.
You could tell Roger was feeling the crowd's enthusiasm when he thanked us over and over for coming and held his hand to his heart in appreciation. Walking out of the Pepsi Center it felt like the Denver Broncos had won the super bowl or something because the crowd was so hyped-up they were still screaming and applauding all the way down the escalators and on out to the street!
For a second I thought maybe he would play one more song after Numb because the crowd was so good... and I was hoping it would have been "Hello, I Love You" from the Last Mimsy... but no luck on that. That's OK, it was an amazing experience once again and all who attended I am sure felt they got their moneys worth! I was actually going to miss this show because it was on a Wed. and I had to fly in and out and work the next day (and their was a freak May 1st massive snowstorm in Denver which caused a 2 hour delay in my flight making me late to work) - but it was so worth it! I would do it all over again!
One last thing, the new REG Magazine arrived just before I left for the airport so I read the whole issue on the plane... great job on another excellent issue. I really enjoyed reading that interview with Roger from 1975 and all the other good stuff. So, now what? I never expected I would get to see the show so many times, and I am so grateful he kept on touring. I will have to patiently wait now for new music and (hopefully) the DVD to come out... and who knows if I will ever see Roger live again? Well, at least I will always have these great memories to keep me going... let's also hope that Obama gets to be the next President and then we will know for sure that the Tide is Turning!
Thanks for everything,

There was a nice combination of old Floyd songs and a new one that was about a hitchhiking trip he took a long time ago to Beirut and how this nice family took him in when his car broke down.
The last half was all of DSOTM. He had a very good band and backup singers, his voice isn't what it used to be, but at times he sounded just like some of his albums, and he can still handle that big ole bass.
If you have the opportunity go, it isn't Pink Floyd exactly, but until some how they reunite, it was a nice substitute.
I wasn't crazy about his political solo work, but the guitar work on those was very good. The only complaint was the sound wasn't quite as good in the Pepsi Center. The likely reason is the 2007 concert was outside. Although, it could be because we were closer to the stage in Denver.
I'll probably go see him again next year if comes to North America!

I never saw Pink Floyd live when I was younger and always regretted it but we never get such huge acts way up here. Heard about Waters in Denver back in Feb and thought this is my best shot. I had high expectations and the show completely surpassed all of them.
Two days later I still can't get this show out of my head. Choice of songs was excellent, the best stuff off each CD. My wife is from Poland and is younger than I am so she knows Pink Floyd but wasn't as into them as I am, by the end of the show she was a believer. Neither of us wanted it to end.
I think the pig in Coachella was MUCH bigger than the one in Denver, I think they had one for outdoor shows (like in Coachella) and one for indoor shows (like in Denver).
Thanks Roger and Denver, for such a great time.
