But this review is for the Toronto show!
He pulled off all the 'expected' Floyd cuts (Money, Comfortable Numb etc.) as
well as several great surprises (Pigs on the Wing, 15 minute version of Dogs
- almost the highlight of the show - most of Dark Side, ÊShine on you crazy
diamond (except part 6), Welcome to the machine, Wish you were here, Mother,
Southhampton Dock). The most intense part of the show had to be our new
global anthem PERFECT SENSE !
Sing along now "Can't you see - it all makes perfect sense, expressed in
dollars and cents, pounds shillings and pence, can't you see it all makes
perfect sense)
Amused to death we were. What God wants, God gets.
Roger didn't speak much - either in Toronto or Montreal - he let his songs
make his statements.
It's odd to see a bass player lead a band. The intense emotion and
dedication to his work that Roger displayed was clearly conveyed to both the
Toronto and Montreal crowds. ÊIf he's coming anywhere near you - GO SEE THIS
SHOW - you'll be glad you did. He does a cool funky version of 'The Powers
that Be" that is about the only song that deviates from the recorded
version. Everything else is virtually note for note -only better!
One more comment - Quebec is definately a more civilized province! You could
buy as many beer as you liked at the beer booths - which while busy provided
people with their drinks VERY FAST. In TO, I waited over 15 minutes to get a
drink only to be told that there was a ONE alcoholic beverage per person
limit. ÊSorry Ontari-ari-ari-o (I'm from Ottawa, Ontario myself), but Quebec
treated me like a responsable human, Ontario assumed that they should limit
my intake!
I saw Roger Waters in Montreal and Toronto.
14,000 great Montreal fans showed for Waters first appearance there in about
12 years and what a show it was! (Sorry, Toronto was also a sold out crowd,
16,000! But there is nothing like a Montreal crowd)
